History

Prior to the opening of the first Pregnancy Care Center location, a small, committed group of people operated a hotline telephone service called Project L.A.M.B. (Loving Alternatives for Mothers and Babies) and very quickly they realized that much more was needed. Callers needed to have reliable, free, pregnancy tests, face-to-face counseling and ongoing support, both emotional and material.

In 1991, we opened our first office in Lewisburg, PA. In 1996, we added an office in Williamsport, PA and operated a Maternity Home in Williamsport from 2000-2009. In the spring of 2006 a third client services office opened in the Shamokin area.

Most recently, we have refocused operations to maximize our efforts toward the abortion vulnerable client. Following the trend of pregnancy resource ministries throughout the country, in 2010 the name of the ministry was changed to Expectations Women's Center. In September, 2010, the Shamokin office became independently run and formed its own Board of Directors to operate within their local community.

Expectations currently operates two very busy client services locations and the administrative office. We serve the people of Snyder, Union, Northern Northumberland, Montour and Lycoming Counties.
